Opal
Coffee, spice and a cooler metallic sheen meet softer rose and suede, with orris, smooth woods, musk and roasted tonka adding depth and shading.
Perfumer: Julie Lerendu
Opal is a pure perfume created by Julie Lerendu in 2025, inspired by the shifting colours and glow of its namesake gemstone. Robertet also connects the creation with the mysterious aura of the Chinese zodiac's snake. Darker coffee and spice meet rose and softer woods, giving the composition shifting contrasts between light and shadow.
Coffee, bay, bergamot, cinnamon, metallic notes, saffron and black pepper open the composition. Bitterness and drier spice meet a cooler metallic sheen. Rose, suede and orris butter shape the heart, accompanied by nutmeg, geranium, davana, clary sage and lavender. Cocoa butter adds a rounder texture around the flowers and leather. Moss, cedarwood, musks, orris, patchouli heart, roasted tonka, cashmere wood and sandalwood support the base. Smoother wood and powdery qualities meet the warmer sweetness of tonka; Cashmeran and oakmoss also contribute to the softly wooded shading.
Explore it on evenings when coffee and spice appeal alongside softer flowers and woods. Its bitterness and cooler sheen provide contrasts to the warmer materials. The 100mL bottle carries a gold-coloured cap and shield, with Celtic patterns surrounding a cobra. A round glass body and thick foot give that snake motif a substantial setting.
