Veronique Nyberg is a French perfumer and creative director who moves between a scientist's analysis and an artist's association. Botany, cooking, and painting are not separate territories; relations of color, taste, and texture can all become scent.
Career
Raised in the Alps, Nyberg explored wildflowers and narcissus with a grandmother devoted to botany. She earned a doctorate in organic chemistry, experienced raw-material quality control in Grasse, and joined IFF as a chemist. Training at the company's perfumery school led to her first formulas in New York and mentorship from Dominique Ropion. She later moved to MANE, taking responsibility for fine-fragrance creation and creative direction.
Creative Style & Philosophy
Color in painting, unexpected combinations in food, and cultures encountered through travel are recast as new relationships among materials. Cross-disciplinary exchange matters, including dialogue with flavorists that can suggest connections between fruit and wood. Regulation and the terms of a brief are not viewed only as walls; a constraint can provoke a solution she would not otherwise have reached.
