Olivier Pescheux was a French Master Perfumer known for luminous elegant writing and the versatility to give materials new narratives. He preferred the idea of a craftsman to a grand title, pursuing both creation and mentorship with generosity.

Career

Born in Paris in 1966, Pescheux graduated from ISIPCA and began his career with Payan Bertrand in Bangkok in 1990. He returned to Paris in 1992, gained experience at Kao from the following year, and joined Givaudan in 1998. After a brief period at Quest International, he returned in 2006 and worked internationally as a Master Perfumer. He died on July 10, 2023, at the age of fifty-seven.

Creative Style & Philosophy

Rather than present a raw material unchanged, he carved it like sculpture, introducing light and shade until a new story emerged. His range extended from citrus and floral radiance to darker woods, resins, and leather, yet the composition retained a legible line. Passion was balanced by pragmatic judgment and play, while his respect for younger perfumers helped carry that creative culture forward.
