About Hiram Green

Hiram Green is a Canadian independent perfumer who lives and works in the Dutch countryside near Amsterdam. Under his own name, he develops and handcrafts fragrances exclusively from natural ingredients, seeking an intense, opulent and expressive character.

Career

Green studied fine arts in Toronto before moving to London with the intention of becoming an artist. A job in a perfume shop drew him into fragrance; he eventually opened his own shop and began teaching himself to blend fragrant oils. After moving to the Netherlands, he launched Moon Bloom in 2013, and his smoky leather fragrance Hyde won the Art & Olfaction Artisan award in 2019.

Creative Style & Philosophy

A song, a painting or a journey can set a composition in motion, with abstract impressions gradually taking shape through many trials. Green works outside formal perfumery-school training and regards that independence as part of his personal scent language. He handles formulation and small-batch production himself, allowing each blend to mature for at least three months before bottling; its colour comes from the ingredients rather than added colouring.

Signature Works

  • *Moon Bloom* — his debut explores tuberose from fresh leafy greens to opulent white flowers, creamy coconut and warm resins.
  • *Hyde* — birch tar and green, spicy cassie give a smoky leather composition its distinctive force, supported by labdanum, vanilla and oakmoss.
