About Florian Gallo
Raised in Paris by scientist parents, Florian Gallo traces formative scent memories to mimosa in southern France and visits to perfumeries in Grasse. His dsm-firmenich profile places sensitivity and cultural understanding at the center of his practice. The combination of scientific curiosity and vivid early memories gives his work both structural clarity and a strong sense of atmosphere.
Career
He entered ISIPCA in 2012 and continued training in natural materials at Robertet’s perfumery school. After experience in Buenos Aires, he led dsm-firmenich’s Fine Fragrance Workshop in Shanghai and later returned to Paris. Working across these cities broadened the cultural vocabulary through which he reads color, texture, and the emotional associations of ingredients.
Creative Style & Philosophy
Gallo is drawn to woods, smoke, leather, spice, color, and cultural context as vehicles for emotion. In Fig Porn and Indecent Cherry, fruit sweetness is deliberately shifted by darker resinous, woody, and musky textures rather than presented as a straightforward gourmand effect. These compositions show how he uses contrast to keep familiar fruit notes unstable, moving between pleasure, shadow, and tactile depth.
