About Nasomatto

Nasomatto is the fragrance project started in 2007 by Italian perfumer Alessandro Gualtieri. Based in Amsterdam and producing its perfumes in Italy, the house explores feelings and sensations through an independent approach to scent.

History

After creating fragrances for multinational companies and fashion houses, Gualtieri sought the freedom to work beyond seasonal trends and the constraints of commercial briefs. The name means “crazy nose” in Italian, drawing on the nickname earned by his unconventional creations. Calling himself The Nose, he also works on another fragrance house and on olfactory art that connects smell with the other senses.

Philosophy & Signature Style

Nasomatto does not publish olfactory note pyramids, preferring people to encounter a fragrance through their own senses before ingredient names guide their expectations. Its compact glass bottles and oversized caps make a distinctive pairing. Materials differ from one composition to another, including woods and cork, giving the objects a tactile character as well as a visual one.

Iconic Fragrances

Black Afgano takes hashish as its olfactory inspiration and wears a cap of burnt oak. Blamage, released in 2014, explores creation through errors and misjudgment, with a cap of hazelwood lacquered white. Micodelirio, from 2026, evokes natural life flourishing in defiance of imposed order beneath a pinecone cap whose shape and texture vary.
