Absinth brings together the green snap of broken stems and a herbal bitterness reminiscent of wormwood. Dry, rooty vetiver adds an earthy, woody character alongside that sharp greenness. The maker frames the work as a provocative quest to stimulate irresponsible behaviour; bitter herbs and dry wood give an olfactory expression to that unsettling idea. Its yellow-green liquid comes in a clear rectangular bottle beneath a large olive-wood cap. Released in 2007, it belongs to Nasomatto’s earliest works.
