About MAD et LEN

MAD et LEN creates perfumes, candles and decorative objects from a workshop in southern France. The surrounding natural world provides a starting point for fragrances and objects concerned with memory, texture and the presence of materials in everyday life.

History

The house draws on the tradition of the apothecary, returning to an approach in which fragrance is prepared by hand and connected with the rhythm of natural materials. Seasonal ingredients and the changing landscape around the workshop inform this way of working. Scent is considered alongside the objects that contain it, giving the collection a shared relationship with place and craft.

Philosophy & Signature Style

Artisans shape the steel objects from rolled metal using traditional methods, while the perfumes for skin are presented in thick black glass bottles. These materials bring a substantial, tactile character to the work: the experience involves looking and touching as well as smelling. Rougher surfaces and carefully considered forms sit together within a deliberately restrained visual language.

Iconic Fragrances

Terre Noire explores impressions of earth and oakwood, suggesting a darker, grounded landscape. Spirituelle takes a fresher aromatic direction with mint and tea. Across the perfume collection, woods, resins and mineral or vegetal impressions become individual subjects for exploration, extending the house's interest in material texture from its objects to compositions made for the skin.
