Pain Nouveau — "new bread" in French — is Son Venïn's attempt to transpose the everyday warmth of a bakery into a modern perfume context. The opening is sharp and green: black pepper and bergamot provide a brief, almost savory lift, while fig leaves add a cool herbaceous bite like something served alongside a fresh loaf. At the heart, a cereal-and-bread accord unfolds with a dusty, grounded warmth, softened by the honeyed powder of mimosa and the sunlit sweetness of orange blossom. The drydown trades familiarity for luxury: sandalwood lends a dry, polished grain, ambrox adds a radiant amber hum, and a Bourbon vanilla accord — described as golden — brings a ripe, almost fig-like richness that ties the composition back to the brand's imagery of mellow fruit. Rather than literal bakery, it reads as an edited still life — bread, fig, wood — reframed as something quietly contemporary.
