About Caroline Malléjac
Caroline Malléjac is a French senior perfumer at Sozio in Paris. Her work spans personal fragrance, home scent and cosmetics, bringing the same attention to the character of a perfume and to the smells woven into everyday rituals.
Career
Her interest began with family perfumes, freshly cleaned linen and the changing smells of the countryside. After studying chemistry in Paris, she attended ISIPCA and trained at Robertet in Grasse with Jean-Jacques Genet, whose concise formulas and careful choice of materials left a lasting impression. A temporary role led to a laboratory-assistant position at Sozio, followed by promotion to perfumer and work across several fragrance categories.
Creative Style & Philosophy
Malléjac values scents with a clear and pleasurable identity, finding beauty in familiar surroundings as readily as in fine fragrance. She begins by translating conversations with the evaluation team into written images, ingredients and a formula, connecting a verbal story with a material structure. Woody and musky notes, together with orange blossom, are among her particular interests; in gourmand work she seeks a balance between recognisable comfort and the refinement of a skin fragrance.
Signature Works
- *Pain Nouveau* — created for Son Venïn, balancing the warmth of toasted bread and cereals with fine woods.
- *Ambr Super* — an amber-centred composition for the same Norwegian house.
- *Santal Super* — her sandalwood-led creation for Son Venïn, preceding Pain Nouveau.
