Ikar pays homage to two things at once: Corsica, home island of the d'Ornano family, and Icarus, the hero of Greek myth. The scent travels from sparkling citrus towards woods with a strong, earthy weight.
Lentisk, the Mediterranean shrub behind mastic, appears twice. A green lentisk essence opens with bitter orange, bergamot, lemon and carrot seed, while a lentisk absolute returns in the heart with iris, jasmine and orange pekoe tea, running a resinous green thread beneath the flowers and tea.
Amber, green cistus, sandalwood and vetiver make up the base. Cistus adds resin and vetiver a rooty dryness, so the ending leans towards earth and wood rather than sweetness.
