Amber Sanguine
Tart pink berries and blackcurrant open onto cool violet, orris and lily of the valley. Moss, sugared almond and soft amber close it, leaving sweetness and bitterness side by side.
Perfumer: Mathieu Nardin
Amber Sanguine opens on red fruit with a sour edge. Pink berries and blackcurrant rise with the bitter peel of bergamot, with a lively pink-pepper accent.
The middle turns cool. Violet, orris and lily of the valley build a powdery, bluish floral layer. The red fruit recedes and the scent tilts toward something drier.
In the drydown, moss supplies a damp bitterness that holds the sweetness of sugared almond in check. Cashmeran and Orcanox add a smooth woody core against the skin, while Ambramone spreads a soft amber. Sweetness and bitterness, brightness and damp, stay together to the end.
It belongs to the Case Study collection, which treats a subject as something to explore in depth. Here, bright fruit and flowers give way to the contrast of moss and sugared almond. Try it close to the skin on an autumn or winter evening.
