Cuoium

Cuoium pays respect to leather and the craft of working with natural materials. It translates the history of a material worn close to the body into a forceful leather character. Its texture keeps a rough edge rather than presenting only polished softness.

Leather and an animalic undertone meet smoky incense and cade, dry cedar and earthy patchouli. Violet brings softness, while labdanum gives resinous depth and vanilla rounds the harder edges of the composition.

It works when leather and smoke are meant to lead an outfit. Cool weather, an outer layer and an evening outing offer suitable settings. Begin with a small amount to judge its density.

Alessandro Gualtieri made this parfum in 2021. Its rectangular 50mL bottle has a rusted-metal cap inset with vegetable-tanned leather, and a removable, reusable leather cover.
