Sopoudrage is Fabrice Pellegrin's homage to iris, a rich, complex and rare material chosen as an exercise in style for a seasoned perfumer. The finest iris takes six years: the rhizomes are grown for three years, then dried for three more.
Rose is its partner, its fresh, fruity side recalling lychee. In this pairing the rose stops being merely romantic and the iris stops being aloof. They are treated as equals, moving in step over a softly woody background.
Pellegrin describes it as a figurative, deep perfume whose airy aesthetic recalls iris petals. The cold beauty of iris is tempered by powdery facets, leading to a candid, unmade-up chic.
