Myrrh brings an incense-like character with a licorice nuance. Jasmine and patchouli join the resin, supported by oud, ambergris and musk. All of these notes are vegan; the names musk and ambergris do not imply the use of animal-derived materials.

Le Labo connects this fragrance with the coexistence of old and new in Shanghai. The house’s naming system pairs a principal material with the number of ingredients, which gives 55 its meaning.
