About Daphné Bugey

Daphné Bugey is a principal perfumer at dsm-firmenich. She decided at ten that perfumery would be her life, collecting bottles and advertisements while training her attention on scent. Her mantra is to experience and feel everything so that creation can begin from freedom.

Career

After formal fragrance education, Bugey built her career at Firmenich across a wide range of fine-fragrance projects. During a year-long sabbatical she traveled across continents, meditating in Nepal, working on an organic farm in Japan, studying Ayurveda in India, and immersing herself in language and contemporary art in Italy.

Creative Style & Philosophy

Mountains, deserts, sky, sea, and the physical force of wind become temperature, movement, and texture rather than literal lists of notes. Curiosity and a constant appetite to learn lead her toward what she calls the rational side of excess. Her work is spontaneous, audacious, and free, yet experience is always given a coherent form that can be worn.

Signature Works

  • *Rose 31* — Rose transformed through woods and spice into a texture beyond gender.
  • *Tenebrae* — Forest darkness and resin rendered with concentrated atmosphere.
