Biwa
Iris expresses the plaintive sound of the biwa lute, with leather, saffron, fruit and a softly sweet finish.
Perfumer: Hidenori Matsuno
Biwa is a L’Héritage eau de parfum inspired by the Japanese lute inherited from Tang China and reshaped through the centuries. Iris expresses its somewhat plaintive sound. KOHSHI describes a floral-leather composition with fruity accents, using gravity and mystery rather than a conspicuously bright character to connect the instrument with the present.
Lemon, orange, violet leaf and bergamot open the fragrance. Iris, jasmine and rose form the floral centre, joined by leather, apple, saffron and thyme. These details bring a darker, spiced texture around the softer flowers. Raspberry and peach continue the fruit in the base, where vanilla, musk and amber add roundness. Vetiver supplies a drier line beneath the sweetness.
The composition suits an evening outing or a quiet moment when flowers with leather and spice feel appealing. Its 50 mL clear-glass bottle has a dark, wood-grained cap and a white label carrying the instrument’s name, matching the visual character of the L’Héritage collection.
