Hiba Eau de Parfum
Aomori hiba brings substantial wood, set between fresh pine and tea tree and warm tonka and amber.
Perfumer: Tatsushi Horita
Hiba gives substantial Japanese wood two contrasting surroundings: cool coniferous freshness and the warmth of amber and tonka. The composition uses hiba oil from Aomori, preserving a sense of weight while allowing fresh air into the wood. Tatsushi Horita worked on this eau de parfum, launched in 2019.
Pine needles, tea tree and grapefruit provide an aromatic, slightly bitter opening. Hiba forms the heart with jasmine and patchouli, combining a softer floral texture with an earthy shadow. Amber, tonka bean and musk leave a warmer finish behind the woody centre.
Its slender 100mL glass bottle carries a square wooden cap and a black HIBA label. The balance works well with knitwear or a substantial shirt when a woody fragrance with both freshness and warmth feels appropriate. Its appeal lies in that meeting of cool foliage and comfortable depth.
