The Grey Area

A woody-musky translation of Virgil Abloh's refusal of fixed categories, built around pine and agarwood for wear across any gender.

KINFOLK NOTES

ザグレイエリア 30mL ボトル

The Grey Area belongs to the brand's Neutral Notes line and takes its cue from Virgil Abloh, the designer who built Off-White, a name that refers to the grey area between black and white. The scent translates that refusal to settle on one side into a composition that steps across gendered expectations.

The opening pairs lemon's bright acidity with the resinous bite of pine, lavender's dry sweetness, and a quiet pinch of nutmeg, sketching the air of a cold conifer wood. In the heart, tonka bean sits alone, lending a soft warmth and toasted edge that keeps the structure from feeling heavy.

The base brings together agarwood's deep, smoky wood and patchouli's damp, leaf-and-earth darkness, holding a steady temperature against the skin. Rather than drawing a firm outline, The Grey Area leaves the margins open, a woody-musky scent built to be worn without choosing a side.
