MON SEUL DÉSIR
An extrait reading the sixth Lady and the Unicorn tapestry as desire, the sixth sense: spiced osmanthus and a vibrant oud over a bed of musk, amber and leather.
Perfumer: Stéphanie Bakouche
Mon Seul Désir starts from The Lady and the Unicorn, the series of six tapestries at the Musée de Cluny in Paris. Five panels are commonly interpreted as the five senses; only the sixth bears the words “(À) Mon Seul Désir”, whose meaning remains obscure.
Stéphanie Bakouche reads that sixth panel as depicting desire as the sixth sense. At the heart sits osmanthus, an elegant flower scattered with spicy accents, while a vibrant oud adds the shiver of a feeling not yet named.
Beneath them, a bed of musk, amber and leather notes spreads out, sensual and caressing. Its density, like layered weaving, draws what lies beyond the five senses close to the skin.
