Psychedelique is Jovoy's homage to a generation seeking freedom, and to the scent of patchouli that accompanied it. The brand sets the fragrance against open-air festivals from the Isle of Wight to Woodstock, where the earthy, mysterious richness of patchouli echoed the spirit of rock music.
The scent opens with bright citrus peel, then moves into a heart where damp, earthy patchouli is wrapped in the resinous sweetness of cistus and amber, with geranium and rose adding a floral lift. Vanilla and musk soften the finish, letting the sweetness and earth settle together.
François Hénin remembers distilling patchouli in Vietnam, from harvesting the leaves to maceration and distillation. That experience forms part of the fragrance's background. Perfumer Jacques Flori shows complete command of the material, shaping a scent that evokes rain-soaked mud at Woodstock.
