L'Art de la Guerre translates as ‘the art of war’. Jovoy frames the name around seduction as a game of strategy and tactics, set on ground once reserved for men, where the rules get shaken up. The stated plan is to join the nostalgic freshness of a fougère with the smoky, spiced character of immortelle.

The opening is rhubarb, bergamot and apple: a tart, stalky green, a bitter citrus edge and some rounded fruit. The heart gathers violet leaf, immortelle, nutmeg and lavender, so leafy green meets dry, faintly sweet herbs and warm spice.

Oakmoss, cistus, patchouli and sandalwood form the base, laying damp moss and dark resin over wood in the manner of a traditional fougère. Perfumer Vanina Muracciole describes a sumptuous fougère with cistus and immortelle, and singles out a maquis facet, recalling Mediterranean scrubland, as its original touch.
