L'Arbre de la Connaissance takes its name from the French for "the tree of knowledge." Artistic director François Hénin warns against expecting a traditional fig: the perfume is a freestyle interpretation of the strangler fig, the tree whose roots famously wrap around temples in Cambodia.

Green notes and citrus open the pyramid, fig forms the heart, and the base brings fig tree, sandalwood and patchouli. The result is deliberately green, with an accord of black fig enriching the center. Below it, sandalwood meets a patchouli with facets of overripe apples and mushrooms, giving the woods an earthy, ripe-fruit shade.

Sap, wood and leaves give the fruit a green setting. The brand's story places the fig tree between startling green freshness and sunlit sensuality, and finds its answer in the calm of thinking of nothing and savoring the present moment.
