Summer in Paro
A woody amber built around Bhutan's Paro valley: Nepalese timur pepper, honey, osmanthus, and the smoky resin of conifers, with fir balsam and labdanum settling into the base.
Perfumer: Delphine Thierry
Paro sits in western Bhutan, where conifers crowd the valley around the Tiger's Nest Monastery. In summer heat the trunks weep golden resin, and Summer in Paro turns that scene into a woody amber floral.
The opening is Nepalese timur pepper: a bright, citrus-leaning spice that tightens the air before petitgrain's green leaves and a dense honey sweetness follow. This honey reads closer to resin than to a spoonful from a jar. Osmanthus layers in a soft, apricot-like floral tone, while benzoin and amyris add a vanilla warmth and a woody spine.
In the drydown, fir balsam's sap and patchouli's damp earth meet sandalwood's milky wood and labdanum's amber. The smoke is part incense, part forest resin. Sweetness and a charred bitterness remain side by side, and that tension is what holds the composition together.
It suits a cool late-summer evening or a light knit. The official listing is a 50 ml eau de parfum, made in France, composed in Grasse by Delphine Thierry.
