Perfumer: Douglas Little
Smudge began as a fragrance Douglas Little made for himself after moving to New York. His interest in the juniper-burning rite of saining and his Scotch-Irish heritage shaped its woodland and resinous setting. Atlas cedar, frankincense and Sichuan pepper introduce the scent, followed by clary sage, juniper and tonka bean. Canadian balsam, labdanum, patchouli, sandalwood and styrax give the base its depth. The composition brings together coniferous freshness, resinous smoke and the vanilla-like warmth of tonka, translating a personal ritual into a wearable scent.
