Rush
Sweet peach meets freesia and gardenia before a bouquet of rose and jasmine. Softer cashmere wood connects the flowers to patchouli, vanilla and moss in a fruity chypre composition.
Perfumer: Michel Almairac
Ripe peach and a vivid red rectangle give Rush an immediate visual and olfactory identity. First presented in 1999 and created by Michel Almairac, the fragrance connects rounded fruit and fuller flowers to quieter woody depth. Gucci describes a scent that accompanies dressing from morning into the evening. Its bright container recalls a vintage cassette tape, making a straightforward rectangular shape part of the fragrance's lasting character.
Peach accord brings a sweeter fruit impression to the opening, accompanied by freesia and gardenia. Rose and jasmine notes broaden the heart into a fuller bouquet. Cashmere wood lends a softer wooden texture around the flowers rather than a sharper, drier outline. Patchouli accord and moss introduce a more earthy, green depth in the base, while vanilla carries sweetness towards that quieter foundation. The composition therefore connects fruit and floral brightness to a softer woody feel and the more grounded character of a fruity chypre.
Try it with the smooth texture of knitwear when a sweeter fruit detail feels welcome, or beside a simple black outfit that leaves room for a more colourful fragrance. The flowers retain their richness alongside the calmer woods and moss. The 50mL container takes the form of a flat, bright red rectangle. A spray opening sits near the upper centre of the front, keeping the outline simple and geometric. Its distinctive colour and uncomplicated shape make it easy to recognise among more conventionally shaped fragrance bottles.
