Lignum Idealis
A sequoia theme meets juniper and drier spice, supported by softer sandalwood, cedar and grounded vetiver.
Perfumer: Alexis Grugeon
Lignum Idealis translates the grandeur of a giant sequoia into a drier, spicier woody composition. Created by Alexis Grugeon and introduced in 2025, the eau de parfum belongs to Gucci’s Alchemist’s Garden collection. Its central idea honours one of the earth’s largest trees, using a sequoia impression captured through headspace technology beside creamier sandalwood. Juniper berry essence gives that warmer wood a fresher aromatic edge. It suits someone who likes quieter woody depth alongside clearer coniferous and spicy detail.
Juniper berries and Spanish cypress open with a conifer-like aromatic impression, sharpened by drier black pepper. Sequoia Nature Print and Dreamwood give the heart woody substance and softer texture. Olibanum extract adds resinous depth with a clearer outline. Australian sandalwood meets Virginia cedarwood and Haitian vetiver in the base, connecting smoother warmth with drier wood grain and a more grounded, root-like shadow. Fresher aromatic notes run through the composition while the softer woods give it a more settled depth.
Try it for a café with wooden furniture or a walk through an autumn garden. A deep green knit or quieter brown jacket can meet its aromatic woods. The selected 100mL bottle has rounded shoulders, a red glass body and a gold-toned stopper. A deer, surrounding leaves and a ribbon form the fine gold decoration on the front. Its antique apothecary-inspired shape and woodland motif give the tribute to a giant tree a more visible form, pairing warmer red with quieter woody depth.
