Velvet Splendour takes its cue from wattle trees bursting into bloom across the Flinders Ranges. Wessel-Jan Kos translates the feeling of leaning into a sun-warmed bouquet of wildflowers into a bright meeting of flowers and woods.
Mandarin and aldehydes open the composition with juicy citrus and an effervescent brightness. Australian mimosa absolute follows, bringing powdery yellow flowers alongside the white floral richness of orange blossom and jasmine sambac.
Australian sandalwood, patchouli and tonka bean form the base. Smooth wood, an earthy depth and the creamy warmth of tonka support the flowers. The soft texture of mimosa can be read from both directions: against the brightness of citrus and against the quieter depth of the woods.
