Victoria
A floral-woody portrait of Argentine writer Victoria Ocampo, pitting creamy tuberose absolute against the deep weight of oud.
Perfumer: Irina Burlakova
Named for Victoria Ocampo, the Argentine writer, editor and translator who founded the influential literary magazine Sur and in 1976 became the first woman elected to the Argentine Academy of Letters, this eau de parfum sketches a portrait rather than a landscape. Perfumer Irina Burlakova sets a bold contrast at its core: creamy tuberose absolute pressed against the deep, resonant weight of oud. Petitgrain and litsea cubeba give the opening a cool green edge, while pink lychee softens the floral sweetness. In the heart, morning rose and styrax lend a lacquered gleam, and the dry down lingers with patchouli, olibanum and castoreum — earthy, smoky, a little animal. The composition carries both poise and intensity, suited to someone who wears depth as a form of self-possession.
