Azurée
A citrus woody scent inspired by Mediterranean warmth at Cap d'Antibes, where basil and citrus brightness meets the earthy depth of armoise, patchouli and moss.
The original Azurée was introduced in 1969, inspired by the Mediterranean warmth around Mrs. Estée Lauder's vacation home in Cap d'Antibes. She described the fragrance as a golden girl lounging in the warm Mediterranean sun, an eternal optimist who brightens every place she goes.
The top notes pair basil and citrus with jasmine. The citrus gives a bright, tangy lift, basil adds a green, herbal sharpness, and jasmine rounds the opening with floral softness.
In the heart, armoise, an artemisia related to mugwort, brings a bittersweet green quality, and vetiver adds a dry, earthy tone; together they keep the rose from feeling purely sweet. The base of patchouli, moss and amber supplies the earthy depth and warmth that sit beneath the sunlit top.
That balance of light freshness and rich earthiness is the core of Azurée, which Estée Lauder classes as citrus woody. The bottle has been redesigned as a modern tribute, while the brand states that the scent itself is unchanged.
