Rhodanthe

Rhodanthe takes its subject from the legend of a woman who sought protection from Diana and was transformed into a rose, while her pursuing suitors became thorns. Created by Sofia Bardelli, the current version appeared in 2019. It surrounds a softer floral centre with the contrasting textures of fruit, spice and wood, reflecting the relationship between petals and thorns.

Bergamot, lemon, pear and clove introduce saffron, violet, raspberry, black tea, Bulgarian rose and pink pepper. Brighter fruit meets the fullness of rose, with powdery and velvety impressions developing through the heart. Oud, amber, cedar, musk, vanilla and patchouli then form the base, giving the flowers sweeter warmth and a darker woody outline.

Consider it for an outfit with a floral emphasis, or an evening when rose with fruit and spice appeals. The 100mL bottle combines clear glass and pale liquid with a rose-gold-coloured cap and shoulders. Its metal-toned circular medallion bears the eagle and fragrance name, above a thick transparent base.
