Dasman
Named for a seaside district of Kuwait City, a dense scent built on rose, saffron and amber, evoking a desert fortress by the sea.
Dasman is a seaside district of Kuwait City, whose landscape and palace provide the setting for the brand’s story. The brand imagines the scent as a storm of rose and saffron with glowing amber, set in a desert fortress by the sea.
The top brings bergamot, lavender, geranium and saffron. The opening has an unexpectedly boozy mood that drifts toward a liquorice-like impression as velvety roses open. A brief menthol-like coolness passes through, echoing the petrol-like facet some roses carry.
The heart holds neroli, Turkish rose and Moroccan rose. In the base, oud and English cypriol oil deepen the roses with a smouldering darkness, while thin threads of olibanum wind around the musk. Patchouli and amber add weight, and a slightly dissonant vetiver keeps the whole from turning heavy. Lavender returns late with a seared edge, lifted by saffron's golden earthiness.
