Ce n’est pas un Patchouly
Maté lifts the dark earthiness of patchouli, carrying mint and citrus freshness toward a soft, resinous tonka finish.
Perfumer: Lucien Ferrero
Ce n’est pas un Patchouly
The name, meaning “this is not a patchouli,” points to a change in the material’s familiar character. Lucien Ferrero used a generous proportion of patchouli essential oil, then paired it with maté absolute to give its dark, earthy presence a lighter, rising quality.
Bitter orange, lemon, and bergamot meet peppermint and geranium in a bright green opening. Carrot and nutmeg connect the textures of maté and patchouli at the heart. Guaiac wood, fir balsam, benzoin, and tonka bean provide a warm, softly resinous base beneath the freshness.
Launched in 2022, this eau de parfum is shown in the clear 100 mL bottle with a white label and black cap. Its balance of earth and leafy tea suggests a daytime fragrance for mild spring or autumn weather.
