Zing evokes the first sip of an ice-cold, freshly pressed tangerine, ginger and carrot juice on a bright morning.
Zing is built around Italian tangerine as its central raw material, composed by perfumer Céline Barel. Rather than letting the citrus simply turn sweet, it opens with the snap of freshly peeled fruit and the cool edge of a stony mineral note. Tangerine and mandarin are set side by side, so the fruit has range, from tart brightness to a rounder sweetness.
Then the heart brings in mate, carrot and ginger. Mate adds a dry, leafy green; carrot brings a soft sweetness with an earthy undertone; ginger gives a light bite. Together they sharpen the outline of the fruit and keep it from reading as plain juice.
The base is patchouli, sandalwood and musk. Patchouli's damp, earthy shading and the smoothness of sandalwood carry the last of the citrus into a calmer, woody finish.
It suits people who love bright citrus but find purely sweet or purely fresh versions too simple. It pairs easily with a crisp white shirt or a daytime outing, any time you want something light with a slight twist.
