Vettii
Inspired by Pompeii's House of the Vettii and its merchant brothers, it layers Mediterranean fruit with saffron, myrrh and oud.
The name comes from the House of the Vettii in Pompeii. According to Agatho Parfum, two freedmen brothers who lived there became wealthy merchants through trade between the Mediterranean and the East, turning commerce into wealth and art. Vettii is presented as a fragrance born from that spirit of exchange.
The top lists lemon, quince, arbutus and fig. Bright lemon meets the firm, aromatic fruit of quince and the rustic red berry of the strawberry tree, a scene the brand compares to the stalls of a Mediterranean market.
The heart holds amber, saffron, coriander and myrrh. Saffron's dry, leathery warmth, coriander's spice and the bitter resin of myrrh pull the fruit toward the brand's image of distant caravans.
In the base, cedar, oud, patchouli, sandalwood and tolu balsam gather. The deep shade of oud and the smoothness of sandalwood are joined by the sweet resin of tolu balsam, giving the drydown real density. The brightness of fruit leads into the warmth of spices and resins.
