Verdeseta
A portrait of the pre-contest anointing ritual of ancient Olympia, moving from elemi, herbs and citrus through olive, damask rose and spice to a woody base of vetiver and resin.
Verdeseta draws on the sacred baths of ancient Olympia, where athletes prepared themselves before competing. The body was anointed with oil in slow gestures, a way of returning to oneself before the contest, and the house presents the scent as an ode to that noble practice.
The opening combines elemi, verbena, thyme, grapefruit, bergamot and black pepper. Clear resin, green herbs and bright citrus overlap, giving the impression of the first drops of oil settling on the skin. The heart brings forward olive, damask rose, cloves and nutmeg, with benzoin and white flowers alongside, so the green, plant-like character gains spice, warmth and floral body.
The base joins sandalwood, labdanum, amber and vetiver with an oakmoss accord. Vetiver's roots, clinging to the earth, provide an image of quiet focus before a contest. Green plants and spice lead into a deeper finish of dry wood and resin.
