About Corinne Cachen

Corinne Cachen is a perfumer whose creative references include travel and memories of familiar smells. Experiences connected with southern France and her childhood in the French West Indies inform an interest in flowers, woods, spices and resins. She also helped develop the first composition for Bon Parfumeur.

Career

Cachen graduated from ISIPCA in 1983 and worked at Florasynth, Créations Aromatiques and Drom. Through conversations with brands and their creators, she translates memories and scenes into fragrance structures. A shared interest in travel brought her together with Ludovic Bonneton, with whom she developed 901, the composition at the beginning of his perfume house.

Creative Style & Philosophy

Her tastes embrace sparkling green notes as well as the enveloping warmth of resins and balsams. Patchouli is a recurring interest, valued for its many facets. For La Closerie des Parfums, she explores it through contrasting spice combinations: ginger and pink pepper create a fresher inflection, while black pepper and Sichuan pepper bring a different depth and lift. These choices show how a familiar material can carry several moods.

Signature Works

  • *901 Soir Tonka* for Bon Parfumeur — Citrus brightness meets warm woods, spices and tonka.
  • *Patchouli Sichuan* for La Closerie des Parfums — Dense black pepper and the dry citrus character of Sichuan pepper illuminate patchouli.
