About Céline Ripert

Céline Ripert is a perfumer whose early interest in the scented surroundings of southern France led towards chemistry, material analysis and fragrance creation. She works with independent fragrance houses and also participates in Le Couvent’s perfumery, covering flowers, citrus and wood through different kinds of compositions.

Career

After studying chemistry, Ripert worked in MANE’s chromatography department, examining the different facets of raw materials. She then learned composition at the company’s internal perfumery school in Bar-sur-Loup. That progression brought close analytical knowledge of ingredients into the practical task of combining them into fragrances, giving her creative work a foundation in the materials themselves.

Creative Style & Philosophy

Natural ingredients are an important starting point for Ripert, while sensory experiences such as wine tasting also stimulate ideas. Travel and historic places, including the Roman amphitheatre in Nîmes, offer further sources of inspiration. She values the freedom and audacity of niche perfumery, particularly its willingness to explore unfamiliar areas of scent rather than follow a fixed formula for creation.

Signature Works

  • *Isis*: A fragrance created for Agonist, connecting Ripert’s professional work with an independent house and her interest in exploring different fragrance ideas.
  • *Solaris*: Another fragrance composed for Agonist, illustrating the place of independent perfume houses within her wider creative portfolio and her interest in their freedom of expression.
