Career
Fascinated by smell from childhood, he spent his school years exploring the perfume counters of a nearby department store. Jovanovic earned a degree in physics and chemistry at Université Pierre et Marie Curie, then graduated from ISIPCA with top honours. More than two decades of work between New York and Paris gave him both American freedom and French formal discipline; in 2024, dsm-firmenich appointed him Principal Perfumer.
Creative Style & Philosophy
His stated ideal is a formula with a simple, clear message. He strips an idea to its essential shape, but also pays close attention to time and the way raw materials mature before reaching their final olfactory form. *Monsieur.* demonstrates the audacity of that economy by making an enormous patchouli core the subject rather than the background, while *Cologne Bigarade* reveals how disciplined reduction can make bitter orange feel freshly three-dimensional.
