About Benoist Lapouza
Benoist Lapouza is a French perfumer who connects music, cuisine, and sailing within olfactory structure. The warm gourmand smell of rosin rubbed on a cello bow and the Normandy sea became sensory reference points in childhood.
Career
While training as a cellist at a conservatory, Lapouza dreamed of becoming a perfumer and after graduation entered an apprenticeship with Pierre Bourdon. He joined Takasago in 1986, moved to Quest, and in 1993 helped Bourdon establish Fragrance Resources. He entered drom's Paris fine-fragrance team in 2014 and has continued creating within international fragrance houses.
Creative Style & Philosophy
Like musical harmony, sweetness, resin, flowers, and spice can be layered while retaining the breadth and ventilation of the sea. He remembers people, food cultures, and moments when night flowers mingle with salt air, and has also learned from exchange with chefs. Richness and freshness are not opposites but forces to be balanced into an enduring emotion.
