About Annick Ménardo

Annick Ménardo is a French Master Perfumer who leaves a trace of mystery and rebellion inside exact construction. Beauty alone is not enough; she wants a composition to possess a character that catches in memory.

Career

Highly sensitive to odors from childhood, Ménardo was also interested in science and psychiatry. After studying at ISIPCA, she refined her command of materials and formula under Michel Almairac at Créations Aromatiques. She worked at Firmenich from 1991 for many years and later became independent, collaborating with Symrise while continuing a career across generations of fine fragrance.

Creative Style & Philosophy

Materials are selected not to increase their number but to give each a necessary function. Soft sweetness from anise or heliotrope can meet burnt shadows of woods and resins or a dry pocket of air, introducing darkness into familiarity. Rather than dilute an idea to follow fashion, she keeps asking whether the finished fragrance has a soul of its own.

Signature Works

  • *Black* — A rubber-like darkness, vanilla, and woods shaped into rounded warmth.
  • *GAIAC 10* — Guaiac wood and musk composed as a quiet trail on skin.
  • *Sports Car Club Eau de Parfum* — Woods, leather, and metallic air arranged with a sense of speed.
