About DAWN Perfume

DAWN Perfume began in 2008 as a collaboration between a Colorado-based perfumer and a Japanese director. It values the meeting of fragrance and skin, and the way that encounter develops an impression particular to the wearer.

History

After meeting Dawn Spencer Hurwitz, Yoshiko Anzu established the line to bring fragrances shaped around Japanese sensibilities to its audience. Hurwitz came from painting and began working in perfumery in Boston in 1991. Anzu serves as Director and Fragrance Designer, shaping the creative direction and the way the fragrances are introduced and experienced.

Philosophy & Signature Style

The fragrances are handcrafted in Colorado, using mainly natural aromatic materials. Their design considers how a scent changes after it is worn, alongside the balance of its materials. The emphasis is on a trail noticed by someone nearby. Personal sessions that invite attention to the scent of the skin provide another way to experience that philosophy.

Iconic Fragrances

Formula X explores the relationship between skin and fragrance. Rain pictures white flowers after a shower, while ame takes inspiration from a heavenly paradise. Bejmat offers quieter woods with citrus, flowers and greenery. Taj Garden brings marigold, vivid green notes and spice together, revealing a different garden-like character within the collection.
