Sogno in Rosso
A milk-foam accord given an edge by black pepper, settling into sandalwood, vanilla and ambergris.
Perfumer: Fabrice Pellegrin
Sogno in Rosso means "a dream in red" in Italian. Its two anchors are black pepper and a milk-foam accord the house calls "Schiuma di latte". The pepper keeps the milk from reading as simply soft and pale.
The opening pairs black pepper with juniper berries and petitgrain, so the first impression is dry heat with a resinous, slightly bitter green edge. In the heart, incense and orange blossom absolute meet the milk-foam accord: a thread of smoke and a white flower, both rounded by something creamy.
Sandalwood, a Madagascan Bourbon vanilla infusion and an ambergris accord form the base. The finish is smooth and sweet, with a warm ambery hum. The official family is ambery, spicy and musky.
