Chocolat Orangette
Fresh orange, cacao and rum evoke a bittersweet orangette, with dark coffee and spice.
Perfumer: Mayumi Nakada
Chocolat Orange takes its cue from an orangette, the confection of orange peel coated in chocolate. Chocolatier Koji Tsuchiya and perfumer Mayumi Nakada created the collection around the idea of chocolate to wear. Here, the brightness of peel and the bittersweet character of cacao meet the sweeter depth of rum.
Neroli, dark-roasted coffee and cacao form the opening. Orange and orange blossom join black pepper, bitter chocolate and rum in the heart. Fresh fruit sits beside roasted coffee and the edge of spice, giving the sweetness different shades. The confection provides a familiar image, while these contrasts give the fragrance its own texture.
Tonka bean, almond, musk, amber and vanilla make up the base. Nutty and vanilla-like sweetness rounds the composition, carrying the meeting of chocolate and citrus into a mellow, warm finish. A suggestion of dark coffee remains part of the character alongside the richer gourmand materials.
