Crop 2017

A limited "Crop" millésime built around oud, sandalwood, resins, black liquorice, and star anise, Crop 2017 feels like a dark, resinous oriental-woody scent where bitter-sweet liquorice and anise weave through smoky balsams and deep woods, drying down to a smooth, meditative warmth.

Scent Development and Character

An oriental-woody composition built around dense oud and sandalwood, layered with balsamic resins and a distinctive black liquorice accord sharpened by star anise. The opening combines the dark, sticky sweetness of liquorice and anise with an almost smoky resinous veil, quickly sinking into a rich, earthy core where patchouli nuances fuse with the oud’s depth. As it develops, the woods grow creamier and smoother, the resins softening into an incense-like haze, while the liquorice-anise facet stays as a bitter-sweet ribbon through the drydown. Overall it feels meditative, slightly gourmand in tone but more resinous and woody than sugary, with a slow, enveloping progression from spicy darkness to warm, polished woods.

Who It Is For and When to Wear It

Crop 2017 wears as a substantial but refined oriental-woody presence: the liquorice-anise accord and resinous oud are prominent in the first hours, giving a dark, contemplative aura that works best in cool weather and evening settings. As it settles, the smoother sandalwood and balsams make it more intimate and enveloping, suitable for formal occasions or quiet moments when a deep, meditative scent is desired rather than an extroverted crowd-pleaser. Best suited to autumn and winter due to its warm, resinous oud-wood structure and dark liquorice-anise accord; it can work on cooler spring nights but may feel heavy in high summer. Sillage is Estimated as moderately strong: the opening projects a distinct liquorice-anise and resinous aura at arm’s length before gradually settling closer to the wearer as the woods smooth out, remaining clearly perceptible but not overpowering. Longevity is Estimated as long-lasting: resinous oud, sandalwood and balsamic materials suggest 8+ hours on skin under typical conditions, with the liquorice-anise accord persisting noticeably into the late drydown.
