Black Wood begins with citrus brightness and a spike of spice. Bergamot and lemon lift first, followed by the peppery bite of pimento berries.
In the heart, a dense rose absolute meets cistus, clove, cypress, cypriol and myrrh. The flower does not open into sweetness; resin and wood pull it into shadow.
The base is soft leather, sandalwood, vetiver, patchouli and cedarwood, warmed by ambramone, labdanum, olibanum and musk. A smoky resin and leather trace lingers on skin like night air.
Case Study takes its name from exploring a subject in depth. In Black Wood, that exploration follows rose through layers of wood, resin and leather. For an autumn or winter evening, it sits well with quiet, tailored clothing, where the wood and resin layers come through clearly.
