A Une Madone
Ugandan vanilla reveals sweet and animalic facets, framed by cardamom and milky woods.
Perfumer: Pierre Guillaume
The name comes from a poem in Baudelaire’s Les Fleurs du Mal, where sacred imagery meets bodily desire. Pierre Guillaume found a similar contradiction in Ugandan vanilla: a material with sweetness but also facets reminiscent of leather, cocoa and peated malt. The fragrance draws attention to those darker shades within the vanilla itself.
Cardamom adds a dry accent, while a guaiac milk accord and animalic sandalwood envelop the vanilla. Smoothness and animal warmth sit close together rather than turning the composition into a simple dessert. The selected 100 mL bottle is glossy black rectangular glass with a gold-coloured cap and circular label.
