Incensum

Incensum takes inspiration from kōdō, the Japanese art of appreciating fragrant wood. Alberto Morillas imagines a gathering in which a small cup holding a piece of wood passes from hand to hand, with guests listening to differences in scent. Woods and resins connect the Eastern and Western cultures in the perfume's imagined scene.
Ginger opens with a sharp, spicy brightness, followed by smoked incense and myrrh. A dark suggestion of burnt wood meets the warm, resinous sweetness of myrrh. The brightness of spice provides an entry into the deeper smoky character, setting different shades of warmth beside each other.
Woodleather and papyrus wood form the base. Dry wood and a leathery depth support the incense and myrrh, giving the composition a clear woody foundation. Spice, smoke, resin and wood bring together the atmosphere of quietly appreciating fragrant wood, with each material adding a different texture to the scene.
