Cologne du Maté
Alberto Morillas turns a mandarin-and-iced-maté cocktail into a citrus scent of bittersweet zest and herbaceous leaf.
Perfumer: Alberto Morillas
Cologne du Maté starts from a cocktail recipe: peel a mandarin, separate the segments and set them around a glass of iced maté. Alberto Morillas translated that idea into perfume, building it on what the brand calls an unexpected meeting between two materials, a citrus zest and a leaf.
Mandarin essence opens with its mix of sweetness and gentle bitterness, and Paradisone® draws the zesty, fruity brightness outward like falling water. In the heart sits maté absolute, which Mizensir describes as a very rare material in perfumery; it brings a grassy, nuanced tea-leaf character, while sage essence adds a soft aromatic note.
Vulcanolide® and a solar wood accord form the base, giving the citrus and leaf a quiet woody support. Herbaceous maté meets bittersweet citrus with a lightness that recalls a chilled drink.
