Violet Ida
Bergamot and carrot seed lead to softer, powderier orris and heliotrope, with vanilla and amber.
Perfumer: Mathieu Nardin
Violet Ida takes inspiration from Ida Arnold in Graham Greene’s Brighton Rock. Violets worn in her hair and the glamour of the 1930s seaside inform a softer, orris-led powderiness. Created by Mathieu Nardin, the fragrance was introduced in 2019.
Italian bergamot and carrot oil connect brighter citrus with earthier texture. Orris butter and heliotrope occupy the heart, joining flowers with softer powder-like character. Vanilla and amber support the finish, giving that powderier impression smoother sweetness and warmth rather than a sharper floral outline.
Consider it for cooler outings when flowers should gain the softer character of make-up powder. Its nostalgic glamour informs this editorial suggestion. The illustrated 100mL bottle has rectangular clear glass, a black cylindrical cap, a pale front label, pale yellow liquid and a thick transparent base.
